i heart street fair food 屋台の味

spring has finally come to ny. one of the fun things about spring and summer in ny is street fairs. there are 2 fairs/festivals in my neighborhood this weekend, so i went to both of them.

what i love about street fairs is food. i couldn't even walk straight because i had to sniff around all the foods. corns, fennel cakes, sausages, burritos, cotton candy, chocolate covered bananas... everything smells so good. so i tried to catch everything that fell on the street. of course my main target is sausages. look how good they look! they are being grilled so nicely. i wish i could have a whole thing.

there are a lot of fun activities at the fair. i wanted to try to throw darts to get some stuffed animals, but it wasn't for dogs. instead, i watched my dad throwing baseballs to see how fast he can throw. it looked fun. i wish there was a game to compete how fast you can eat sausages...

at the fair, i saw my neighbor baby julien. he is almost 6 month old, so he is like my little brother. we are very good friends. of course i'm heavier than him because i'm his big brother.

then i found an even better vendor - BBQ! look at this menu! i got a bit sad when i saw a pig being roasted because pigs are my friends. my mom got beef brisket sandwitch, so i got a few pieces. i can't even tell you how good it was. i love street fair food so much. i had such a nice weekend.

長い長い冬が終わり、ニューヨークにもやっと春が来たでよー。春と夏のお楽しみと言えば、歩行者天国（お祭り）だがねー。今週末は２つもお祭りがあったから、ぼくはもちろん両方行って来たんだに。

お祭りでのお楽しみと言えば屋台だらー。そこら中からいいにおいが漂ってきたから、とてもじゃないけどまっすぐ歩けんかったね。焼きトウモロコシに揚げパン、イタリアンソーセージにブリトー、それに綿菓子やらチョコバナナまで！あんまりいいにおいだったから、道ばたに落ちとる食べ物を見逃さんように掃除機みたいになって歩いたね。もちろん一番のお目当てはイタリアンソーセージ。あのぐるぐる巻きになったソーセージ、全部食べれたら幸せだろなー。

お祭りと言えばゲームもいろいろあるんだに。ダーツを投げて風船を割ったらおもちゃがもらえるっていうやつをやってみたかったけど、犬はダメだって言われてあきらめた。そのかわり、アーロンが野球を投げて速度を計るやつをやったから応援したんだに。ソーセージの早食い競争があったら絶対勝つ自信あるんだけどなー。ちなみに、お祭りで近所の赤ちゃん、ジュリアンに会ったのだ。かーわーいーいー。ジュリアンはもうすぐ６ヶ月になる男の子で、ぼくの弟分ってとこだがね。ぼくは兄貴分だから、体重はぼくの方が当然重いんだに。

歩行者天国も半ばまで来ると、もっとおいしそうな屋台を発見した。このメニュー見てみやー！でらおいしそうだがねー。でもブタが丸焼きにされとるのを見たらちょっと悲しくなったに。だってブタさんはぼくの友達だからねー。アヤコがビーフブリスケットのサンドイッチを買ったからちょっともらった。でらうま！！屋台の味は最高だねー。高級な食べ物より、こういうB級グルメの方がぼくは好きなんだがねー。

i heart baseball 野球犬

i love baseball. baseball is such a fun sport to watch and play. in the states, i am a yankee fan, and in japan, i am a nagoya dragons fan. whenever i play baseball, i imagine myself as wonderful as ichiro, as awesome as jeter, as passionate as joba, and as eager as hideki. my dad went to see a yankee game tonight, so i am watching the same game on tv. whenever i watch baseball games, i want to eat cracker jack or some treats. (peanuts are bad for dogs.) i'm old-school.

i played baseball with mom while watching the game. a softball we have at home is too big for me to carry, but i love the challenge. the new kitchen floor is the perfect place to play baseball. i don't need a bat because i'm so good. (but i feel like i'm slumping tonight.) oh i have a good idea. there should be a puppy baseball just like puppy superbowl. i hope some scouts come and draft me someday.

野球が好きだー。野球って見るのもやるのもでら楽しいがね。ぼくは、メジャーリーグではヤンキースのファンで、日本のプロ野球では中日ドラゴンズのファンなんだに。野球するときはいつも、イチローのようにすばらしく、ジーターみたいに軽やかに、ジャバみたいに情熱的に、そして松井みたいに熱心にプレーする自分を想像しながらプレーするんだに。今日はアーロンがヤンキースの試合を見に行ったから、ぼくはテレビで同じ試合を見ることにした。野球見とるとなんかホットドッグとかおやつが食べたくなるだらー。映画にはポップコーンみてゃーなもんだね。

テレビで野球を見とる間、アヤコと一緒にプレーもしたんだに。うちにはあいにくソフトボールしかにゃーでね。ソフトボールは大きくてくわえれんのだけど、そこがまたいいんだなもー。ぼくは野球がでら得意だから、バットなんていらんもんね。でも今日はちょっとスランプかも。どっかのチームがぼくをスカウトに来てくれんかねー。プロ野球犬なんてでらかっちょいいがね！

like a guard dog 番犬らしく

our kitchen construction is going well. the floor is already done. so i decided to help my dad cleaning the floor. i love chasing a mop. to make it even better, i leave my lovely paw marks everywhere. the clean floor feels nice and cool. i think this will be a nice place to lay down in summer.

until the kitchen is totally done, we have to keep our precious rice cooker on the floor. the floor could be a dangerous place. who knows if some other creatures come and steal my rice. (i'm on chicken and rice diet because of my loose poops.) so i guard the rice cooker.

when i think of so many grains of rice, i get a bit concerned... are they happy to be cooked? i'm half japanese as i told you before, so i believe that every grain of rice has spirit. i hope they are nice and warm.

i can smell the rice is almost ready. fresh-cooked rice is the best. i'm ready to eat!

うちのキッチンのリフォームはけっこう進んだがねー。もう床はできあがったんだに。 だからアーロンが床にモップをかけるとき手伝ってあげた。モップを追いかけるのって楽しいなもー。ぼくの足跡がそこらじゅうについて、さらにしあわせ。新しい床は冷たくてきもちいいに。夏になったらつめたい床の上でゴロゴロするのが通だでよー。

キッチンがちゃんと完成するまでは、炊飯器が床においてある。しばらく下痢ぎみだったから、ぼくのごはんは鶏肉とごはんなんだに。だから大事な大事な炊飯器を守るために番犬らしく振る舞うことにした。大事な仕事だがねー。

ごはんが炊きあがることを考えとると、ちょっと心配になってきたりもするがね。火加減は大丈夫か？ぼくは日本人とアメリカ人のハーフだから、ごはんの一粒一粒にはごはんの神様がいるって信じとるんだよ。おいしく炊きあがってね、ごはんさまさま。炊きたてのごはんはやっぱり最高だがねー！

going a bit crazy ちょっとハイになる

i'm pretty healed (mentally) from yesterday's surgery. i took half of the pain medicine this morning, but other than that, i'm totally fine. i have good appetite, i love walking, and i sleep very well. but my mom thinks that i'm going a bit crazy. maybe i'm a bit more hyper because i'm so happy that my surgery is over. after a big day like yesterday, the normal sunset time like this photo feels very nice and peaceful. (i'm a good poet, aren't i?) and that's why i pulled mom more and tried to eat more poop.

of course i didn't forget to check what's on sale on a grocery store ad on the street. i'm a good shopper.
don't worry mom, i just want to feel like a baby a little bit now. more treats will heal me good!

昨日の手術から、今日はもうかなり調子がよくなったに。朝、痛み止めを半分飲んだだけで、あとは絶好調だがねー。食欲もでらあるし、散歩は楽しいし、ぐーっすり眠れるし。でもアヤコが言うには、ぼくはちょっとハイらしい。うーん、やっぱりちょっとハイかも？だってさー、手術が終わってうれしいがねー。ああいう大仕事したあとは、こんな普通の夕暮れが平和で満ち足りたものに見えるなもー。うーん、詩人だがね。だからこそちょっとハイになって、散歩のときアヤコをいつもよりもっと引っ張ってって、ほかの犬のウンチをもっとたくさん食べようとしたんだに。もちろん道ばたに落ちとった広告で安売りのものをチェックするのも忘れんかった。買い物上手。

それから花がたくさん散るのを眺めて、花が地面に落ちる前に食べようとしてみた。なかなか難しかったなも。
まあアヤコはそんなに心配しんでいいよ。手術のあとだし、ちょっと赤ちゃんの気分を味わいたいんだにー。おやつたくさんくれたら、もっと早く傷口もよくなるに。

good bye my balls ぼくのタマタマ バイバイ

today was the day. i said good bye to my balls. my parents were crying when they dropped me off at the vet's. i actually liked the anaesthesia. it felt good to sleep like that. when i woke up, i did't have my balls any more. after the surgery, i slept the whole day. i also got micro-chipped so i can always come back home. i'm so high tech.

i came back home very hungry. but my mom made me eat really slowly. my vet said that i might not want to eat. wrong! i am a young proud french bulldog! i want to eat 24/7. so i ate, i walked, and i took a very good poop. i think i said a very nice good bye to my balls. mr. balls, i will miss you, i enjoyed having you... i put mr. balls' photo to honor them today.

ついに「そのとき」はやってきたのだ。今日、ぼくはタマタマに別れを告げたんだに。アーロンとアヤコはぼくを獣医さんに連れてってくれたとき泣いとったね。実はけっこう麻酔が気に入ったがね。あんなふうに熟睡するのってけっこう気持ちいいもんだにー。目が覚めたとき、もうタマタマはなくなっとった。手術のあとは一日中昼寝した。アーロンが言うには、ぼくの度胸のよさはアヤコに似とるって。ぼくは運が強いんだにー。マイクロチップも入れてもらったし、これで立派なニューヨーク犬になったってことだなも。

夕方、家にでら腹ぺこで帰って来た。だって昨日の夜から何にも食べとらんかったもんね。アヤコがごはんをくれたけど、心配してゆっくり食べなさいって何回も言われた。獣医さんは、ぼくが今夜は食欲ないかもって言っとったけど、わかってないなー。ぼくはフレンチブルドッグだに。２４時間いつだって食欲モリモリだがねー！ごはんも食べた、散歩もした、でっかいウンチもした。タマタマとぼくは良い別れ方をしたと思う。タマタマさん、またね。また会う日まで元気でねー。今日はタマタマ記念に、タマタマ写真を載せるでよー。

construction confusion リフォームで混乱

my home has changed. one day i found some guys in our home, and they started taking down the kitchen. the kitchen is my favorite area at home because that's where my parents prepare food for me. then, they moved things from the kitchen to our living room. so now i can't lay on our couch. so sad. i'm not scared of the noise they make, but i miss sleeping on the tatami mat.

now, there is a baby gate to separate the kitchen+living room from the rest of our apartment. i don't like the baby gate so much. sometimes it falls and scares me. i try to see how the construction is going through the gate all day.

i have to ask my dad to build an automatic treat dispenser in the new kitchen. if i can have that after this construction, i can say that it is worth living without the tatami mat.

家が変だ。ある日、知らん人たちがやってきて、キッチンを取り壊し始めたのだ。リフォームってなんだー！キッチンはぼくが家の中で一番好きな場所なのに。だってキッチンはぼくのごはんができてくるとこだもんね。なのにさー、ガス台やら冷蔵庫やら全部をリビングに移動してまったもんだから、足の踏み場もにゃーでよ。ソファでのんびりもできんよ。悲しいねー。工事の音は気にならんけど、リビングのたたみの上で寝れんのが悲しいなもー。

工事が始まってから、キッチンとリビングにぼくが行かないように、赤ちゃん用のゲートがつけてある。いやだー。ときどきあのゲートが倒れてびっくりするでいかんわ。最近では毎日、ゲートの前に座ったり寝転んだりしながら、工事の行方を監督しとるんだよー。

アーロンに、新しいキッチンには自動おやつディスペンサーでもつけてもらわないかんね。それがあれば、この苦しい生活に耐えたかいがあったってもんだがねー。早く工事が終わってほしいねー。

sleepy face ネムネム顔

sunday is a sleepy day. especially a day like rainy day. i went to bed last night at 11pm, and i slept until 8:40am. wow i didn't go pee pee for almost 10 hours! this is great for my mom. she doesn't have to wake up so early to walk me. glowing up is a good thing.

last night, i did a video chat with my japanese grandparents. i sat in front of the computer and talked to them. i was so sleepy, but i did some tricks for them, too. they seemed to be very impressed. they talked to me in a japanese frog language that i don't know so well. i have to learn some words for them. i thought i look like my grandfather, big papi. does that mean he has a frog face?

日曜日は眠い。とくにこんな曇り空の日はねー。昨日の夜は１１時に寝て、朝８時４０分までたっぷり寝たんだに。すごい！だって１０時間近くオシッコに行かんかったってことだに。アヤコはうれしそうだったねー。だってもうでら早起きしてぼくの散歩しんでいいんだもんね。おとなになるっていいことなのかもしれんなもー。

昨日の夜は日本のじーちゃんばーちゃんとビデオチャットしたのだ。パソコンの前に座ってカメラをじっと見つめる。でら眠かったからこの写真みたいな顔だったけど、ちゃんと芸も披露したんだに。みんな感心しとったがねー。でもじーちゃんばーちゃんはかえる日本語でぼくに話しかけるから、もっとかえる日本語の勉強しないかんと思ったね。ちなみにぼくってちょっとじーちゃん（ビッグパピー）に似とると思うんだけど、ってことはじーちゃんはかえる顔ってこと？
